Our school was a victim of the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA. We have been relocated down to Chico, CA where we are rebuilding our school and trying to replace all that we lost. Much of what we lost was our playground, sports equipment, and team gear. We have seen that keeping our students busy and engaged in as much as possible has helped them to heal and move forward from such a catastrophic event.
To help these students heal from the Camp Fire we would like to replace all of our sports team equipment so we can continue to provide sports at our school, and keep our students involved and together.
We have many students who join together during recess and after school to play games of soccer. So, soccer goals and soccer nets will be used by all students, not just those who play soccer on teams. Basketball is also a sport our entire school enjoys and bonds over. We often play an 8th grade vs Staff basketball game that they entire school spectates and cheers through. We also play a lot of basketball during recess and after school. We have a girls 3-5th grade team, 6th-8th grade team, and a boys 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th grade teams. Many of our students look forward to being old enough to play for our basketball teams.
Our school also likes Volleyball and we have a team of 3rd-5th graders and a team of 6th-8th graders who enjoy competing with other schools in the area. Many of our classes also like to have a volleyball unit in their PE Curriculum.
Last but not least, many of our students enjoy participating on our Flag Football teams. We also have a team for 3rd-5th graders and a team for 6th-8th graders.
