I am looking to set up a new learning space in my room for my younger students. As a drama teacher I am always looking to enhance the creativity that lies within my students. This requires a seating area, a storage area for books/plays, puppets, costumes, and art supplies.
I want to make the dramatic play area in my room a place where I can meet with students to read stories and act out the events within the story. For example one of my favorite books to teach dramatic play is "I Went Walking". This story is about the different animals that follow behind a young girl on the farm. As each animal is introduced the students follow behind me (or another student) pretending to be that animal. This activity teaches the concept of sequence.
