My students love to learn about different hot topics and current events, and Scholastic News gives them that chance. We love to see and research all the topics in the Scholastic News! They get really excited each week when I say it's time to get our new article out! We don't have a huge selection of nonfiction and current events so this helps to broaden their horizons and teach them all about different students and different areas of the world. I also use this as a stepping stone to come up with topics to discuss in small groups and also for research. We use this product once a week on Fridays during our science and social studies block; this helps give us a variety of topics to discuss and research.
