I teach ninth and eleventh grade English and English Language Development (ELD) in a STEM-focused Title One (low-income) High School in Santa Rosa, CA. Most of my students will be the first in their family to go to college and are the children of immigrant parents, or themselves immigrated as children. I have many students who are English Learners, or RFEP (Formerly English Learners), and many students with IEPs. My classroom is focused on building students social-emotional and communication skills and a positive sense of self, in addition to focusing on academic skills for high school and college, planning for the future, and increasing their understanding of the world around them.
