These materials will help ensure our classroom can support students with basic life skills: organizing, using a system, and creating things from scratch. The color-coded folders will allow learners in our class to put materials away in a particular spot. While many students struggle with organizational skills, this system teachers students how to wrap up and transition to another task more efficiently.
The folder system builds the life skill of managing multiple assignments and tasks, which students will encounter not only in future grade levels, but also when managing a household and in their jobs. Similarly, students must be able to create! The markers will assist us in allowing students to create what they want for presentations, projects, and other things they encounter this school year. Students also use the markers to model and demonstrate their mathematical thinking - particularly with fractions.
