My school became a ProjectLit Community Chapter, which is a grassroots initiative to stop book deserts and provide books to MS and YA students that are relevant to their lives. We have had book club meetings where we get to enjoy discussion, food, and the company of our school community.
These books will provide an opportunity for the students to see different life perspectives and have healthy conversations with their peers. This list of books creates an environment that pushes our kids to discuss difficult topics that may not otherwise be had. It gives them the words to use and the understanding of seeing things from a different perspective.
