These flexible seating options will help my students become better learners. With kindergartners there needs to be chances for movement, and for choice. Currently students have the options of sitting at the rug, or in their regular chairs. This is hard for many because they struggle to sit still. They need the opportunity to get the wiggles out, and complete their work at the same time.
Flexible seating gives them the choice to pick an environment that not only makes them feel comfortable, but helps promote their learning.
Students are more motivated to complete their work during independent time, and small group when they are excited about where they get to sit. I have seen great improvements in their attitudes since allowing them to choose where they sit in the room. This is helping them become mindful of the type of learner they are. They are discovering what works best for them!
Flexible seating options would allow them to have some comfort and control while they do their work.
