My students need access to a variety of tools to help them self regulate, increase focus, reduce negative behavior, improve self-control, and ultimately stay engaged in the classroom.
Flexible seating, such as kneeling chairs, T stool, wobble chair, etc have been shown to increase focus and reduce distracting behaviors; weighted lap items, visual and tactile sensory tools can reduce anxiety and sound canceling headphones and light covers can reduce triggering sensory input.
Some of my students have experienced trauma so it’s hard to know their triggers but with these tools and your help, we can give them tools and skills for a successful future.
