STEAM has become the gateway learning into the future. With Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math leading the way to new and better advances in society, it is critical your children have the opportunity to learn and develop skills in these areas.
These materials will provide hands-on learning opportunities for your children. With your donations, fifth-graders will get a closer look into machines (standard 5.2.2.1) through building and modeling simple and complex machines in the classroom. Fifth and sixth graders will also get hands-on experience with motion, getting a closer look at the concepts of gravity, acceleration, deceleration, and vectors (standards 5.2.2, 6.2.1, 6.2.2). Fifth graders and sixth graders will also get to discover and design their own species when we talk about habitats, adaptations, and human influence on the environment (standard 5.4.1, 5.4.2, 5.1.4). Sixth graders will dive deeper into the world of natural and artificial systems using adaptations as a diving point (standard 6.1.2, 6.1.3).
Sixth graders will have to opportunity to dive into technology and learn to create their own coding through a variety of free apps and programs, as well as designing and building their own form of technology to fit a need (standard 6.1.2).
