Support Ms. Stottlemyre's classroom with a gift that fosters learning.
Students are learning to read in first grade, and I hope to show them the amazing gift that reading can bring to their lives. I am in need of building a classroom library where students can choose a book that interests them. These books will be read aloud on the carpet or chosen by students to read independently. I believe the classroom library is the most valuable spot in the classroom for emerging readers. This is where the love of reading begins and the place where new adventures await. Books help to build our imaginations, which in turn helps to build our writing skills. Students love non-fiction books and will greatly enjoy those that I placed in the cart. I have also included the variety pack of classic books that students will enjoy choosing to read over and over again. Instilling this love of reading will strengthen their skills and help them grow as readers.
First graders are just learning to read and need quality examples of good books to help them get excited and immersed in reading. I am so excited to be working with kids of this age. These books will be used for independent reading as state above, but will also be used for guided lessons in ELA and science. Obtaining these books will only help to enrich the experiences my students have with books!
