I’ve asked for materials that will help keep my students organized. These materials are essential to their everyday classroom routines that will help them be successful. The furniture is to help provide a safe, continuous place to keep their supplies. The reading material is to help bring about background knowledge on topics they may not already have access to. A simple binder ends up being a symbol of ownership for my students. It is something that they create and own, filled with their experiences during that school year. It is something that they can wake up to and understand is waiting for them on a daily basis. A sense of security if you will.
