I'm changing my seating arrangement for 2019-2020. I'm going to a deskless classroom. A local carpet company has graciously donated carpet squares to me already. I'm looking for new or gently used beanbag seats, gaming chairs or other comfortable seating items to use in my classroom. I'm going to purchase clipboards so students have a sturdy surface to write on. I plan on using the chairs that are in my room to come up with alternative seating options. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I hope that by changing things up, I will spark new interest in learning and be able to keep their attention better.
I'm choosing to change my seating arrangements to stimulate more student-to-student communication. I also will have different stations set-up for reading and collaborative work. With these changes and a shift to comprehensible input led instruction, my outcome goals for students is higher proficiency in French. By adjusting how they are seated and how they interact, I will strive to maintain 90% in the target language in class.
