I am requesting 21 ukulele and 21 sets of pics. At this time, my students have ZERO exposure to string instruments. Currently, there are none available for demonstration or practice. This is a requirement of our curriculum and we cover the concept, but can only read about it. Exposure to an actual instrument would bring authenticity to the existing curricula thereby increasing student engagement; highlighting the necessary skill set needed to achieve competency. Excitement abounds from my students at the prospect of not only having access too but learning to play a stringed instrument. The students in my class have used strong perseverance and discipline techniques in learning many musical concepts. This would be a wonderful supplement to enhance further learning and promote future musical experiences.
