In my daily teaching there are many opportunities to use a projector and a document camera. Document cameras allow for me to teach a lesson that will support our visual learners. In addition, I would like to create a listening center to encourage fluency and listening comprehension.
As a follower of Lucy Caulkins, I feel that the reading and writing workshop is significant in the development of strong readers, writers and college readiness. I would like to create a multimedia center in my 4th and 5th grade reading/social studies class. I will use the printer to support their final writing to create anthology for each quarter. I have a vision of inviting parents and allowing to host a listening party at the end of each quarter.
I would like to foster a love for writing. I think that speaking and listening is one of most powerful academic skills that our students could develop to help them in middle school literacy. If mastered in the intermediate levels it could be a catalyst to future success and college readiness.
