All of my refugee students come to school everyday with big smiles. They love the ESL classroom because it feels like home to them. In this space, we learn English and study other subjects. It is also a place of community where students from all over the world celebrate our shared struggles and dreams of success.
Unfortunately, the chairs in my room that I retrieved from the school's dark sub basement are broken, hazardous and very uncomfortable. I believe my students deserve a comfortable seat to sit in. This will help them to focus on learning without discomfort. They would love to sit in a chair without fearing that a broken screw will pull on their hair, splintered wood will not hurt their hands and jagged edges will not tear their clothes.
By donating to my project, you will inspire my students with your kindness and generosity. As refugees, they already know the kindness and grace of strangers. We would be forever thankful.
