We are looking to bring children of diverse backgrounds together. When children who speak different home languages come together to build, create and roleplay, social bridges are built and relationships grow, leading to a stronger sense of community both inside the school and out outside of the school in the greater world.
Small groups of 3-4 students will use Legos (or Magformers) and work together, using their language skills and social skills, to create communities. Students will talk and plan together, negotiate and build, take apart and redesign their communities, all the while building relationships with kids they might not normally talk to. Children who do not speak the same language will be paired together and will be able to communicate through the language of creation and play.
