My school is a Pre-K through fifth grade elementary located in an urban school district. Since the majority of the students come from low-income families, many qualify for free or reduced-priced breakfast and lunch. Despite limited resources, the school services five inclusion classrooms and two self-contained special education classrooms. Many of the special needs students are struggling with everyday skills. My classroom consists of fourth grade students who receive extra help with Reading and Math. They need assistance and guidance throughout the day to keep them on a strict routine. At times, they become over-stimulated and need several short breaks to fidget. The materials that are being requested will provide them with a soft environment, similar to that of the sensory room, to help them remain calm, have an opportunity to read, and continue with their day in school.
