Do you remember the power of the read aloud? There's something powerful about connecting to characters from a story as a class. The natural conversations that occur between chapters are inspiring. The whole class is waiting at the edge of their seats to find out what happens next. The teacher has the ability to authentically point out higher-level vocabulary. Students experience deep levels of personal growth due to thematic conversations. I have an entire Engish Language Arts curriculum that does just that, but we're missing the class sets of books.
My students have grown to be vivacious readers, who appreciate devouring books independently and together. I want to foster their love of reading and propel it forward with class sets of a variety of novels. I am requesting 25 copies of 8 different books. These eight novels will be the driving force behind my fourth grade English Language Arts Curriculum for years to come.
