My classroom does not have a working pencil sharpener. My students get frustrated with the dull regular and colored pencils I have out for them to use. I have been unable to use school resources to get a new sharpener.
Since I lack a sharpener in my classroom, I have to take all the pencils to the office each week to sharpen them. This really bugs my students, I have multiple students with sensory needs or fixations around having a perfectly sharpened pencil. When they are frustrated, they do not want to participate in instruction.
My students also have trouble with organization and keeping track of their materials, so they often need to borrow a pencil. I give them what they need, so they can focus on instruction.
This sharpener will sharpen regular and larger primary sized pencils that help my students that have fine motor needs. The colored pencils and paper allow me to provide choices to students with behavior issues or autism.
