Books expose children to endless possibilities. Our school is in an area where many of our students may never get to have experiences other than those they read in books. Developing a love for reading can inspire kids as well as give them not only the skills, but the courage and character to go beyond their circumstances.
Research has shown that classrooms with well designed libraries provide more opportunities for growth in literacy. Students who are provided with the opportunity to choose books that not only interest them but are also at their reading level develop a love for reading and are more likely to reach proficiency.Â
