Through this project, I would like to fill my classroom with flexible seating choices so that each student can learn in a space that is comfortable for them. Have you ever been stuck in a meeting or a class for a few hours in an uncomfortable, hard, plastic chair? Do you remember focusing on the content or do you remember shifting in your seat because you were uncomfortable?
We learn and focus best when we are comfortable! I want to give my students a comfortable space and seat in which to learn! Personally, I don't like to sit at a desk for any length of time, but I love to sit on the floor or curl up in a quiet corner when I need to focus. I have found that many of my students are the same! Other students need the ability to move in their seats and they often resort to tipping in their traditional chairs which can be dangerous! Wobble stools and balance balls allow students to move in their working space without distracting others or risking injury to themselves. These three seating types (wobble stools, balance balls, and comfy floor seats) will give my students some options to choose from as they decide what type of seat and space allows them to focus, learn and do their best work.
