In the fall of 2019, I will be entering my 5th year teaching at my school. I have noticed a trend in the last few years among my students. During independent work-time (and especially reading), they want to spread out! They want to sit on the floor, lean against the walls, or stretch their legs. This project will give them the tools to do this so they can read (and learn!) more comfortably.
Research has shown that flexible seating options help students learn more effectively. Flexible seating options allow students to find comfortable places to learn in the classroom. Comfortable students are more focused, more productive, and overall happier. I would love to move away from traditional rows/desks and give my students better tools for collaboration and focused work-time in my classroom.
