There are three ways I plan to incorporate these books into my classroom... 1. Students will be able to take books home and read with their families. This has been a practice I have used for the last two years. Many students do not have books to read at home. These books will help families get involved in their child's learning. 2. Students will use these books during our Daily 5 Center time. One of our centers is reading independently. A student will get the chance to pick a book of interest and sit and read. Another center is reading with the teacher in which I will pick the book. 3. Students will be read aloud from these books. We will work on the contents of each book (title, front, author/illustrator, theme, and words). This will help my students learn to read quickly and enjoy books.
These amazing new books will help me bridge the achievement gap and give my students a chance to succeed in school. By donating, you can help my students fall in love with literacy. They will get the chance to pick a book that interests them. It is important that I allow students to explore books and how they work. Reading is an amazing tool!
