In our classroom, we would love to introduce a Listen to Reading Station in our Daily 5 routine. This philosophy of balanced literacy exposes students to all types of reading and reading skills. The Chromebooks will allow students to listen to fiction and non-fiction texts related to the unit of study, use virtual manipulatives to assist in word building, be introduced to publishing skills, and learn how to perform research. Currently, my classroom only has one laptop for teacher use. When my students enter 3rd grade they’ll be expected to have their knowledge tests taken on similar Chromebooks. It’s important to me to expose them to these materials, to help them better prepare for upper grades as well as be experienced in using technology that will better prepare them to be college and career ready.
