I want to give energetic or ADHD students options for how they sit in my classroom. Kids who have flexible seating in classrooms are more engaged because they feel like they have choices. Some kids need to lean, flex, and move around a little more, even in a 57 minute period! When the core is engaged, this improves breathing, which improves focus. Kids who like to habitually lean in a chair will benefit because these are safer for them. A traditional chair is unsafe to lean in, and I have seen one student too many take a horrible, embarrassing fall.
