I have been looking into alternative seating because the majority of time during our classwork students want to sit in the floor around the room. They get bored sitting at a regular desk and chair. I want students to not only be engaged during our work but also be comfortable.
When your whole body’s engaged, your brain’s engaged.
Many classrooms are beginning to use alternative seating. Alternative seating gives children many immediate benefits. This includes burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture. It's no surprise that physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior.
I want to do this by incorporating some different seating options around our classroom. Wobble stools for our desk, comfortable chairs and a lamp in our class library, stability disk for chairs and the floor, and fidget chair bands.
