Getting a book in the hand of a child is only half the battle. The other half is getting them to open the cover and read. Sitting at a desk on hard-bottomed chairs will not help to develop a love for reading.
Providing the space to relax and escape into a good book will encourage readers of any age.
The library is a place where all students in grades kindergarten through five come, but few enjoy their visit. We hope to change that by creating a reading nook with a couch, beanbag chairs, pillows, and a teepee. It will make all the difference in the world to a lot of deserving children.
