Many students in my classroom have difficulty finding books/novels for our monthly free-read component in our 12th grade English lesson plan. Our undersized school library makes locating the minimal amount of options a challenge and the nearest public library is located over ten miles away. We want to create a classroom library of 100 books to supplement our school library. Another challenge in our classroom is the 6x4 foot whiteboard. It is the only whiteboard in the classrom. Students have difficulty viewing the monthly calendar of assignments, due dates, and events due to lack of whiteboard space. Creating a classroom library and gaining additional whiteboard space would greatly improve student literacy and achievement.
