This project is for my 6th grade math class. Let's face it, not all humans get quite as excited as I do about 6th grade math! Not only do I love math, but I feel like it is my educational duty to create little mathematicians who love math as well!
I aim to do this by implementing flexible seating and creating hands-on, interactive learning experiences for all students to create a community of students who will love math!
To do this, I have chosen various types of flexible seating including bean bag chairs, wobble chairs, and balance balls. I have seen how these types of seating have decreased student anxiety and helped support all students, including those with ADHD.
Additionally, I have chosen several visuals and hands-on manipulatives that would support the 6th grade math curriculum. I feel that if students are able to have hands-on experiences and visuals they are able to truly understand deep rooted math concepts, and thus are able to reach a higher-level of mastery.
I would be forever grateful for any donation as I know these items would have a positive impact on student learning and success.
