The LEGO WeDo 2.0 kit will help my students learn how to build and code robots. First. the students will learn how to build robots using a wide variety of LEGO pieces. The kit comes with an array of robots for the students to choose from. Then, the students will follow the instructions for building each robot using an iPad and the coordinating software.
After the students have created their robots, then they will be able to code their robot to do many tasks. Some of these tasks include: changing colors, playing music, moving around the room, coloring, and writing. The students will also have the opportunity to challenge each other to see who has the best-coded robot. The students will work with a buddy and then learn how to join their robots with other students to create a mega robot.
In addition to this being a fantastic way to teach some of our science standards, the students will also learn to work cooperatively and improve their problem-solving skills. Overall, this is one of the best STREAM projects I have seen in regards to student engagement.
