My Sixth Graders are requesting novels to participate in the 2019 Global Read Aloud! The Global Read Aloud is a project where students in multiple classrooms around the world read the same book and participate in discussions beyond the four walls of the classroom. It is astounding to see the reach of this amazing idea!
Teachers set aside a six week period to read the book aloud and during that time, we make as many global connections as possible.
Students will have discussions about key events in the story and "talk" to one another through various technology; Skype, Google, Twitter, etc... This concept provides students the opportunity to ask and answer questions, analyze literature and be moved by an inspiring plot.
The purpose of this project is for students to connect with others from around the world while partaking in a shared experience. Since its inception, the Global Read Aloud has had more than 4 million students from more than 80 different countries participate.
Please help my students by providing copies of this novel so they can participate in this International Book Club!
