Throughout my first year of teaching, I noticed time and again the best learning was done when I allowed it to be hands on and creative. My students - when given this environment - did not want the learning to end.
The materials I chose for this project will promote student learning by allowing them more opportunities to succeed and grow deeper in their understanding of Math and Reading through academic play and hands-on manipulation.
By making learning more exciting, students begin taking ownership and will develop the skills needed - not because they have to - rather because they want to and have seen the benefit and joy they feel at their accomplishments.
