The books I am requesting are going to be used for helping my students with reading comprehension strategies. I will use these books as mentor texts for my students and give them the opportunity to practice our skills and strategies with authentic texts.
We always think that older students don't need or want picture books, but there is so much excitement when we get to sit down and read a picture book together. By using these picture books as models, my students will have a better understanding of the comprehension skills and strategies we ask them to use everyday. All of these books will tie into at least one of the skills that we practice daily. It will allow for more fun and engaging lessons in our classroom.
