Research has shown that low level readers are more likely to end up in poverty, incarcerated, or not graduating from high school.
Everyone of my students fit in these at risk categories. I am a 2nd year teacher and cannot afford a full library to provide for them, but I can give them as much access to books as possible through donors like you.
I will be teaching Reading Intervention/History and want to build up my library so that they have access to as many books that would perk their interest. One of the keys is to find something they're interested in. By having a variety for them to choose from, they will be more likely to pick a book up to read it.
