One of my biggest goals as an educator is not just to teach students to add and subtract, but to change their very mindset toward math. Math is all around us. I want to empower my scholars to use mathematical thinking and practice as a guide to all of their learning experiences in everyday life. Therefore, math doesn’t end at the classroom door; instead, I will challenge my students to always use their math skills to problem-solve real world situations.
Each of these ready-to-use centers will develop my scholars' skills in base 10/place value, fractions, problem solving, elapsed time, number sense, algebraic thinking, beginning multiplication, comparing numbers, and addition and subtraction strategies.
