Flexible seating is a fantastic opportunity for fourth-grade students to be an active participant in their learning. Being in charge of one's education is a vital life skill. By providing this seating, you would be contributing the tools necessary for them to take those first steps to independent thinking and isn't that what all teachers wish for their students- to be independent thinkers? In addition to flexible seating, the use of a document camera is vital to teaching. Unfortunately, the classroom I was assigned this year is without one. Document cameras are used as a part of my daily instruction. They are used during whole-group instruction, providing examples, and spotlighting student work to support learning. All of the items requested would be used daily and are a critical component of the classroom.
