Flexible seating will enhance my students learning experience by giving them the opportunity to choose the type of seating that is the best 鈥渇it鈥 for their learning needs. It will allow them to interact with each other more freely and collaborate with one another. It will also make learning more fun and exciting as they are actively engaged in the learning process. They have worked so hard and I would love for them to get to experience an unconventional learning environment that will foster their creativity and help with sensory issues especially for many of my students who have ADHD.
In the classroom, we do daily five rotations, lotta lata, and dictado in preparation for the STAAR which can be academically and mentally exhausting therefore giving them choices will truly make a difference in the way they acquire and process their information. I am looking to get six balance balls, four space comfy chairs, and four wobble chairs so that students can move through the different work stations while working on daily five which is: read to self, read to someone, word work, work on writing, and teacher time. Also, while working on lotta lara which involves: echo, choral, and partner read, students will be able to be back to back while using their flexible seating of choice instead of just simply on the floor. Furthermore, on fun Friday鈥檚 when we have a designated time to drop everything and just read and AR test, students will be able to enjoy reading in a more comfortable environment.
