If our project is funded students will be immersed into a world of literature. Our grade level would like to do this through book clubs.
A book club is an opportunity to share their love of books and reading. We want to create a strong reading culture in the fourth grade. Book clubs will invite natural discussions that lead to student inquiry and critical thinking. It will foster interaction, cooperation, and collaboration. Reading alone will help them discover why they enjoy a particular book; however, knowing that they are part of an ongoing conversation about the book will help them to read differently, thinking ahead to what questions and discoveries they can share. In addition, students will have the opportunity to work with students from different classrooms.
