These materials will make a difference in my student's learning by providing support, activities, and resources that I may not be able to provide for my students otherwise. I have requested office supplies to use within different projects in our classroom, many sight word activities for my students to use and participate in during free time/Fun Friday, and cleaning supplies to help keep our classroom COVID friendly.
My students work hard every single day, and they have already made so much growth in the four months that I have been their teacher. One major focus in our class this year is sight words! COVID heavily impacted my students in their reading abilities, as it was extremely difficult to teach kindergarteners and first graders how to read virtually. This year I have worked hard to ensure sight words is a main focus of our everyday routine/activities. I have asked for a numerous amount of phonics/sight word activities to help with this. My students will use these activities for extra practice, Fun Friday activities, and as part of our dismissal process (as my students are dismissed from the classroom).
Another important item that I requested was the 4-part Magic Tree House book set. I will be using these items for my higher leveled reading group. My students have all worked so hard to improve on their reading fluency, but especially my higher leveled readers. This group is ready for a challenge and introduction to chapter books, an opportunity I have not yet been able to provide due to lack of resources. My students will appreciate this item the most as I know it will provide that challenge and higher level of engagement!
