Through the use of these two novel studies, my students will be able to apply the Mississippi State Standards that they learn throughout the school year. We will read these together as a class and analyze characters continuously with rich discussion, art, and activities that I have prepared.
My hope is to be able to give my third graders the opportunity to have their "worlds" open up as a result of reading an exceptional book. When they have a moment to relate, learn, and grow because of a character's actions it is more vital than anything they will take away from a textbook.
The chapter book class sets that we currently have at my school are mostly outdated and not on my kids interest level. By adding these titles to the collection we can be on the path to updating our resources for the betterment of students at Lumberton Elementary!
