As a brand new teacher, my classroom library area is a work in progress. I am constantly moving things around and researching ways in which I can improve it. The area that my classroom library encompasses is covered in linoleum. Last year, my students would either sit or lay on the floor with their books and I would see them become incredibly uncomfortable very quickly. I always felt that they lost interest in the book they were reading due to where they were sitting.
I want my students to realize that reading can take you on an adventure and this rug can be their vehicle! Having a warm and inviting rug where all my students could read and be cozy would make the biggest difference. I want my classroom library to be a place where students can't wait to come and sit down at. This rug would allow students to be transported into the stories they are reading.
I also plan to use this rug as a meeting place where we can work on our anchor charts as a class. My students love to come and sit in front of me when I am teaching and this rug would allow them to be close and relaxed. I know this rug would help bring us together as a class and create an area that everyone can't wait to come back to!
