In today’s age, computer literacy is an integral part of any student’s learning plan. By providing students with Chromebooks, they gain unprecedented access to resources and information. All my students love using Chromebooks in our classroom. Unfortunately, we only have a limited number of Chromebooks. My students use Chromebooks to help increase their reading and math proficiency on i-Ready, a program that our school uses to help all students achieve success on grade level. Additionally, they use Chromebooks to take Accelerated Reader quizzes. This program increases their independent reading level and offers them various rewards for meeting their goals. They also use Chromebooks to do research. For example, we researched contributions made by Hispanic Americans recently and the students were able to create a poster and timeline. Chromebooks are used to access our social studies curriculum as well. Chromebooks are used primarily during math and reading centers while I’m teaching a small group of students. Chromebooks keep students engaged, help close the achievement gap and also prepare them for their future career. We currently have 20 students but only eight Chromebooks.
