My students need materials to access creative collaborative play and build their social skills within the classroom environment. Academic success is imperative to my teaching, but it is also our job to work on developing social and life skills to prepare them for the future.
Children learn peer collaboration and independence through play and generalization.
I provide many opportunities to develop these skills throughout the day. This project will help fund opportunities for my students to play and problem solve with their peers. This specific project will be used for morning work tubs. Items needed are manipulates and activities that will be placed in morning work tubs. Students will be encouraged to create, build, imagine, and laugh together for a structured amount of time. The tubs will also provide problem solving opportunities for my students. I am excited to provide them an opportunity to learn to collaborate with others, work though disagreements, and make compromises to achieve goals together.
