After attending a Responsive Classroom training, I realized my classroom is missing a key component: a rug to meet on! Morning meeting and closing circle are key parts of our school day. Up until now, my students have had to sit on "rug spots" instead of on an actual carpet. Often, we aren't sitting in a circle during our meeting, which defeats the purpose of the meeting in the first place!
Sitting in a circle makes it so that all children are seen and feel seen. Having a round/ovular carpet will allow us to build community in this way. This rug will get SO much use and will truly be a staple in our classroom. I chose a rug that has an academic tie-in so it will serve two purposes!
