In a class where students are just learning to participate in discussions and share in front of groups, students are often timid and quiet when speaking. This is especially true with English Language Learners, who are just beginning to develop their social and academic language and practice speaking. This year, it is often hard to hear my English Language Learners when they raise their hands to speak because they speak so quietly.
These microphones will engage students in a fun way that makes them want to share and participate, and allow the other students to hear them when they do so!
Tossing the microphone will also help students stay engaged and develop their motor skills (throwing, catching, and rolling). The handheld microphone will be a fun way to get students excited to share their writing and projects in front of the class by allowing them to be the star! All subject areas will benefit from these microphones, and will help in every aspect of the classroom, and instructional day.
