I will create a classroom library that entices my students to read by providing them books that appeal to them. Students will not only discover new experiences through these books but will also foster their imagination. This indeed will lead them on a path that will help them be independent learners who read not only for academic purposes but also for entertainment.
My aim is to use these books and the book series that are so appealing to children to help them build fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Reading must pique a student's interest to serve its educational purpose.
I will use some of these books as a read-out loud. I will guide the students through the plot of the story and discuss unknown vocabulary. Together we will dive into the story and discuss the plot and build their background knowledge as well as their vocabulary. They will set their imaginations free and have a clear understanding of how a book must be read with intonation and clear expression to make it come alive.
Once, students have a clear understanding of how much fun and entertaining reading can be then they will choose to read these classroom library books independently.
