The materials I have requested for my project will create a space for students that is warm, inviting, and comfortable. During an interactive read-aloud lesson, students will gather on the carpet to listen to a story. During the read-aloud, students will turn and talk to one another during different points of the story using the posted vocabulary cards (that correspond with story vocabulary), as well as sentence strips that contain cloze sentences to help students form complete thoughts in response to literature.
The interactive dry erase boards will allow for pairs of students to brainstorm ideas and promote free thinking and responses to literature. All of the materials requested will support literacy development for ELL's in all language domains: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
