I teach a 4th/5th bridge bilingual special education class. Our school is located in Harlem, New York City. Harlem is and eclectic neighborhood full of people of different cultures and costumes.
All of the students in my class have Hispanic background. Most of them come from the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
Socially, my class is full of spirit and bright personalities. Academically, the students' challenges affect every aspect of their learning as well as their emotional state.
My students' needs include speech and language impairment, attention deficit, hyperactivity and mild emotional disturbance. Some of the students in this class have recently come from Spanish speaking countries, others are students with Interrupted Formal Education.
