As a teacher, the first thing we are taught is to be mobile. However, mobility is difficult when computers and document cameras tend to require a constant source of electricity. My students also complete their work from a guidebook and using a paper guidebook means it must stay under the camera. In my class, I would like to purchase an iPad and Pencil. The iPad will connect to the projector using AirServer, a program that allows for wireless screen mirroring. From there, I would be able to access my guidebook online, download it to the iPad, and write in their guidebook alongside them. I can also use the camera while screen mirroring as a mobile document camera. I can also use the iPad to show videos, pictures, and even play educational and test review games to strengthen their skills! In a normal class period, I will be able to shorten my time spent accessing the guidebook and will be able to increase lesson time. A lot of critical class time is spent with me waiting on the projector to catch up with me switching between my laptop and document camera. Because we are a school low on funding, we have gone from a 5-day week to a 4-day week, so all lesson time is extremely important in preparation for state testing.
