The use of brain breaks is essential in my classroom of busy bees. My First graders need time to use sensory materials for their developing brains, in order to move on to more complex learning tasks. In addition to boosting memory functions, using sensory materials will give students the opportunity to evolve their motor, social and problem solving skills.
Our school houses many students with trauma backgrounds. Having these sensory items will allow students to calm their anxieties and frustrations. It will help students be at peace as they integrate back into the classroom and learn to their fullest potential!
